The University of Missouri Kansas City is excited to partner with the Burrell Foundation to host a 7-week exhibition of "Art of Being Me" by artist Randy Bacon. The collection showcases the personal stories of more than 20 individuals who have lived experiences with mental health conditions or diagnoses. The Burrell Foundation hopes this powerful, meaningful art will educate the community about mental health, normalize the experiences of those who live with challenges, and inspire others to share their stories.
This major exhibition consists of multiple forms of media, including inspiring portrait artwork, personal written stories, and a series of short films that focus on various behavioral health challenges.
The exhibit will be displayed throughout UMKC's Miller Nichols Library and will be unveiled at a private event on Tuesday, October 18. The campus and community are invited to view the exhibit throughout its stay on the UMKC campus. Free access is available during the library's operational hours through November 30.
