The Missouri State Fair said in a press release Thursday that the new facility will replace the current venue on the fairgrounds in Sedalia.
Canceled events include rodeo, bull riding, demolition derby, motocross, TT races, and tractor pulls.
“We value the partnership we have developed over the years with the organizers of these events and appreciate their patience and understanding as we move forward with the new arena build," fair director Jason Moore said in the release. "This project represents a significant investment in the fair’s future, and we can’t wait to welcome these events and more back once construction is complete.”
The Missouri State Fair said its new state-of-the-art complex will provide a modern and versatile space for a wide range of events year-round and during the annual fair, from livestock shows to conferences, trade shows and community gatherings, among other multi-purpose uses.

The State of Missouri has entered into a contract with Nabholz Construction to build the enclosed, climate-controlled arena. Construction on the 140,000-square-foot facility will begin this summer and is anticipated to be completed some time in 2026, the release said.
The Missouri State Fair will run Aug. 8-18 in Sedalia.
